Skin Reset

Hope everyone had a great long weekend! Despite it being a little chilly, windy and rainy yesterday, today seems like a better day.

Life needs a reset button sometimes and whether it may be unwinding from the day with a bubble bath, a simple work out, wine and dine or just relaxing at home this helps us reset for the next day or the week ahead. It is no surprise that your skin needs a reset as well. From skincare to makeup…the dust and dirt in the air your skin is bound to collect these particals through the day and week.

To reset my skin, I like to use a deep cleansing mask at the end of the week, just so I’m starting the week with a clean canvas. It helps to clean out the pores, soothe any irritations, diminish acne scars or pimples. There are two masks that I have been loving at the end of the week. Both reaches it’s expectation and does almost about the same as one is a little more aggressively then the other.

Let’s get into it..

Secret Nature Volcanic Ash Pore Pack vs Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial Mask

Both of these masks key point is Pore diminishing and with that being said it leaves the skin feeling fresh and clean.

Lets start with Secret Nature Volcanic Ash Pore Pack.

Texture is on the harder side and I find that it dries out quite quickly after opening. It spreads quite well and the texture is on the heavy side despite using a small amount. There isn’t an apparent smell to the clay mask, nothing too perfumey.

Overall: Leaves my skin quite clean without that squeaky texture. Skin is a little red especially on my cheeks, but once followed up with toner and moisture cream the redness diminishes. With this mask I find that using a heavier moisture works great as it allows my skin to drink up the goodness.

Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial Mask

This is a great comparison to the Secret Nature Volcanic Mask. The texture is creamy and glides on easily. There are these little beads that works as an exfolitator. No perfume smell which is great just the normal clay mask smell.

Overall: Love this product! I would definitely give this a 10/10. At times in the morning when I want that extra cleanser I use this as a cleanser. No redness after using this as mask or cleanser. Leaves the skin feeling very fresh and clean without having it feel like it has stripped away any natural oils.

If I was to repurchase just one of these products, it would be the Skin&Lab clay mask due to not having any redness to my skin after use. I also enjoy the texture/consistency of this product more so than the Secret Nature Volcanic Mask as it dries up really quickly.

I hope you guys enjoy this quick little followup with skin cleansing. Have a great week!

Squeaky Clean

Happy Friday everyone!

Through many years of finding the right cleanser for my skin type i’ve gather some of my go-to/favourite products i’ve been repurchasing. And in continuation of “cleaning” I thought it would be nice to share some old and new goodies.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite time of the day…getting home from work/going out and just removing all the makeup and allowing my skin to breathe. I want a gentle but effective cleanser that I know will do the job without stripping away any of my natural oils.

Before I get started, I just wanted to stress that this is NOT a sponsored post as i’ll be linking a lot of the products in one source. It just so happens that i’ve purchased all these products from StyleKorean.

Now lets get into it…

So starting off with removing my makeup…

(Banila Co - Clean it Zero Resveratol;
two layers of eyeliner and two rounds of gentle scrubbing)

For the longest time i’ve been in love with Banila Co – Clean it Zero Resveratol. The texture was great, although the smell is a little too perfumey for my liking but overall it did the job. It didn’t clog my pores and it removed my waterproof makeup with ease.  A little goes a long way especially around the eye area, I didn’t need to agressively scrub away my mascara and eyeliner. Easily a 9/10 for me…it is a little on the pricey side with it being $20.00 USD sometimes on sale for $18.00 USD and within a year I would probably need to purchase 3 – 4 (which isn’t too bad but with the conversion rate it does get quite pricey)

(Heimish All Clean Balm; two layers of eyeliner and two rounds of gentle scrubbing)

An alternative that i’ve been hearing about was the Heimish All Clean Balm. You are probably thinking, the price is relatively the same with Heimish being a dollar less. BUT I don’t actually purchase the balm on it’s on only because StyleKorean offers the Heimish All Clean White Clay Foam and All Clean Balm in a set for only $25.23 USD. I love the both of this combined. The All Clean Balm works exactly the same as the Clean it Zero with the pro side of not being too perfumey. The texture is slightly different as you can tell from the picture above; it does solidify quickly into a wax like texture. I do find that along with it being not too perfumey, it also removes my eye makeup a lot easier without looking like a panda hahah.

(Heimish All Clean White Clay Foam)

Now onto the Heimish All Clean White Clay Foam. I love these two duos together. Right after removing my makeup I use the White Clay Foam as a cleanser. The texture is so gentle; my skin feels soft and clean without the feeling of my natural oils being stripped away. (that awful feeling of my skin cracking after cleansing) A few times i’ve gone in with a toner to see if it had removed all my makeup, and I can definitely say there was no residue.

(belif Creamy Cleansing Foam Moist)

Another cleanser i’ve have been enjoying is the belif Creamy Cleansing Foam Moist. I actually find this a similar to the Heimish All Clean White Clay Foam with the slight difference of it being thinner and lighter. This is now part of my morning skincare routine along with the whole line of belif products. I purchased this in a travel to go set just to test it out and right now it has worked for me. It leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished even after removing my makeup. The last few weeks i’ve noticed my skin texture feeling more plumped, brighter and healthier without the dullness. Belif products are actually available at The Face Shop in Canada.

(Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Scrub)

Now onto the last product…the scrub. It isn’t a korean brand only because I have yet to come across a facial scrub that I enjoy. I’ve been using Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating for years now and i’m hoping it does not get discontinued. Although I am not using this for the purpose of eliminating blackhead, I do enjoy using this once a week to do a full facial scrub, removing any inpurities and dead skin. It is quite lightweight with little beads that are not too abbressive for the skin.

I hope everyone had a great week! I know here in Toronto it has been and will be a soggy weekend, other then that have a great weekend, stay safe and dry!
